Satisfied In You
O my God, You are my God
Earnestly I seek after You
My soul thirsts for more of You
My body longs for, longs for You
In a dry and weary land
Where there’s no water, I am thirsty

To see You in Your dwelling
Behold Your power, Your glory
Your love is better than life
My mouth will always praise You
I’ll lift my songs before You
I raise my hands to You, O God
My soul will be satisfied
My soul will be satisfied in You

Oh my God, I think of You
Thoughts turn to You in the night
Oh my soul, will cling to You
You’re my shelter in the fight
In the shadow of Your wings
I will trust You, You are my refuge

To see You in Your dwelling
Behold Your power, Your glory
Your love is better than life
My mouth will always praise You
I’ll lift my songs before You
I raise my hands to You, O God

To see You in Your dwelling
Behold Your power, Your glory
Your love is better than life
My mouth will always praise You
I’ll lift my songs before You
I raise my hands to You, O God
My soul will be satisfied
My soul will be satisfied
My soul will be satisfied in You
Song Notes
Phil's comments on this song:

This song is based on the text of Psalm 63. This has always been one of my favorite psalms, not because it exemplifies my life, but because it is what I long for my life to be. We live in a dry and weary land, spiritually speaking. In America, we have abundance poured out on us in every conceivable way. And yet, there is so much darkness and emptiness. Pleasure and fulfillment are promised, but never ultimately delivered. We are left fainting with spiritual hunger and thirst if we rely on these things to satisfy our souls.

There is only One Who will truly satisfy our lives. Our God alone, through His eternal, steadfast love, brings true and lasting refreshment, satisfaction, and joy to our lives. I want to hunger and thirst for more of Christ and the Word. I want to behold the power and glory of the Lord. I want my life to be exemplified by praising and glorifying the Lord all of the days of my life. I want to cling to Him and dwell in the shadow of His wings. What great imagery that is – God gathering us in close to Him, to abide in security and joy.

Our God is a feast of joy. May we be satisfied in Him, through our Savior, Jesus Christ.
