Reflection of You
I am running a race and yet standing still
Watching and waiting, at the bottom of a hill
The road just looks too hard, I know I’m lacking desire
The passion comes and goes, what happened to the fire?

Lord, I want to be
A godly man – a reflection of You
Oh my Lord, take this man
Oh my Lord, mold this man
'Til I'm – a reflection of You

I remember Your Word, You speak to my heart
You're always with me, we are never apart
You are my all in all, my strength for every hour
Please help me, Lord, I pray and fill me with Your pow’r

Lord, I want to be
A godly man – a reflection of You
Oh my Lord, take this man
Oh my Lord, mold this man
'Til I'm – a reflection of You

I know the flesh is weak
And on my own I’d face defeat
But in Your strength I stand
For victory is won
And sin and death are overcome
By the blood of the Lamb!

Lord, I want to be
A godly man – a reflection of You
Oh my Lord, take this man
Oh my Lord, mold this man
'Til I'm – a reflection of You
Song Notes
Phil's comments on this song:

This is song is written from a desire to be more like Christ – that my life would be a reflection of Him. And yet, the journey of the follower of Christ is often a long and tiring road, filled with many trials and struggles. I sometimes find myself looking at the road ahead and thinking that I can’t make it up the next hill. Or worse yet, not even wanting to try to make it.

These are the times when it is crucial to remember the Word of God and to remain immersed in the Word. Our perspectives and desires are so skewed by the pull of the flesh that we need the constant truth of God to speak to our heart and minds. It is then that we remember, as God has said, He will never leave us or forsake us. We don’t have to run this race in our own strength. In fact, it is impossible. He is our strength, our shield, our defender, our life, light, and salvation. On our own, defeat is surely ahead. In Christ, the victory is already won.

Oh God, mold us and shape us into the image of Your Son, for the glory of Your Name and that we might know the exceeding joy of abiding in Christ.
